Lyclear 5% w/w Dermal Cream 30g

Description Lyclear 5% w/w Dermal Cream is used to treat scabies and crab lice infections. Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by a tiny mite which burrows into the skin, causing itching and a pimple-like rash. Scabies can be spread through prolonged skin-to-skin contact with an infected person, and also through sharing clothing and bedding. Lyclear Dermal Cream contains Permethrin which belongs to a group of medicines called pyrethroids, which are anti-parasitic agents that target both scabies mites and their eggs and pubic lice. Suitable for adults and children over 2 months of age. Usually, a single application clears the infection. If you doubt the success of treatment, consult your doctor. DIRECTIONS:  For External use. Carefully apply a thin layer of the cream to the skin. Ensure the skin is clean, dry and cool. If you take a warm bath before treatment, the skin should be allowed to cool before the cream is applied. TREATMENT OF SCABIES: Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: Apply up to 30 g of cream (corresponding to one tube). Adults should apply the cream to the whole body including the neck, palms of the hands and soles of the feet. The head and face can be spared unless this area includes places affected by scabies (itch mites). When applying the cream, the area between the fingers and toes (also under the finger- and toe-nails), the wrists, elbows, armpits, external genitalia and buttocks should be especially carefully treated. Children aged from 6 to 12 years: Apply up to 15 g of cream (corresponding to half of a tube). Children aged from 2 months to 5 years: Apply up to 7.5 g of cream (corresponding to a quarter of a tube).  The cream should be uniformly applied to the whole body, including the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, neck, face, ears and scalp. Parts of the skin around the mouth (because the cream could be licked off) and the eyes should be avoided. Treatment of children up to 23 months of age should only be given under close medical supervision. TREATMENT OF CRAB LICE: Use in adults and children over 2 months, and the elderly: It is recommended that up to one-third of a 30 g tube should be sufficient to treat the pubic region, perianal region, thighs and trunk. A few adults may need more cream to ensure complete treatment, but not more than two-thirds of a tube should be used. For children and relatively hair-free individuals proportionately less cream will be required. Sufficient cream should be applied to cover the pubic region, the area around the anus, inner thighs down to the knees and any hair on the trunk, which extends to the pubic area. Any facial hair, except the eyelashes and eyebrows, should also be treated if found to be infested with lice or their eggs. HOW LONG SHOULD YOU USE LYCLEAR DERMAL CREAM? One application of Lyclear Dermal Cream is usually sufficient. Leave the cream on the skin for at least eight hours, for example, overnight. Avoid bathing, showering or washing during this period, because this could endanger the success of treatment. If, by way of an exception, you have to wash your hands within eight hours, then reapply the cream to the hands and wrist area. The same applies if you have to wash other parts of treated skin (buttocks, external genitalia). After at least 8 hours, take a shower or wash the skin with soap and water. Provided these instructions for use are followed, a single application is generally sufficient for successful treatment. However, in cases of persistent or renewed infestation, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment after 14 days. A second treatment should be administered if live lice are found on the previously treated area 7 days after treatment. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LYCLEAR 5% W/W DERMAL CREAM. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine during pregnancy, if you are taking any other prescription medications, regular medicines or receiving regular treatment. Lyclear is not suitable for use in babies under 2 months of age. For children less than 18 years of age seek medical advice before using the product. Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If symptoms persist after 14 days consult your doctor.
