Description Lactulose Fresenius contains a laxative called lactulose. It makes the stool softer and easier to pass, by drawing water into the bowel. Lactulose is commonly used as a laxative during pregnancy, for paediatric patients, and in nursing homes. It has also been shown to have a beneficial effect on the activation of the natural microbiome. Use for gentle relief that works within 48-72 hours. Pleasant-tasting liquid formula. How to use: For oral use only. Take your doses at the same time each day. You may give the dose once daily or divide it up to three times a day. Swallow the medicine quickly. Do not keep it in your mouth. You can take Lactulose Fresenius oral solution undiluted or diluted in some liquid. Use the measuring cup provided. During the treatment with laxatives, you should drink sufficient amounts of fluids (approx. 2l/day, equal to 6-8 glasses). Adults: Starting Dose: 15-45ml corresponding to 10-30g lactulose. Maintenance Dose: 15-30ml corresponding to 10-20g lactulose. Adolescents over 14 years: Starting Dose: 15-45ml corresponding to 10-30g lactulose. Maintenance Dose: 15-30ml corresponding to 10-20g lactulose. Children 7-14 years old: Starting Dose: 15ml corresponding to 10g lactulose. Maintenance Dose: 10-15ml corresponding to 7-10g lactulose. Children 1-6 years old: Starting Dose: 5-10ml corresponding to 3-7g lactulose. Babies: Starting Dose: Up to 5ml corresponding up to 3g lactulose. Thereafter the dose can be reduced individually. The daily dose should be taken at once during the breakfast. It can take 2-3 days until the desired effect is achieved. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LACTULOSE FRESENIUS For oral use only. Do not use Lactulose Fresenius without medical advice for more than two weeks. Do not take it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or if you or your child are taking any other prescription medications, regular medicines, or receiving regular treatment. Seek immediate medical advice in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well. Please read the enclosed leaflet carefully. This medicine can cause side effects like all medicines, although not everybody gets them. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. If symptoms worsen or persist during the use of the medicinal product or there is no bowel movement after three days, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.
